At present, the application of big data in the oil and gas field at home and abroad is still in its infancy, and domestic research is not deep enough and systematic. In order to meet the wave of big data and artificial intelligence technology and promote the upgrading of petroleum exploration and development technology, the research team of the China National Petroleum Corporation Science and Technology Research Institute, a well-known oilfield development expert and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Han Dawei, started as early as 2005. The machine learning support vector machine method is used to conduct oilfield development data mining to solve the problem of residual oil distribution in ultra-high water-bearing oilfields, and important progress has been made. Academician Han Dazhao has long been committed to advocating big data and artificial intelligence technology. He is leading the large-scale application in the field of petroleum exploration and development. He is led by the China National Petroleum Corporation Science and Technology Research Institute for “innovative efficiency demonstration project for oil and gas exploration and development based on big data application”. The project was recently selected by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for the list of pilot projects for the development of big data industry in 2018.
