With the rapid development of the electronics manufacturing industry, new technologies, new processes, new devices, and new materials are emerging one after another. SMT (Surface Mount Technology) has become the mainstream of the electronics manufacturing industry. The requirements from design to manufacturing automation are more intense, developed and gradually applied. Some new ideas, such as DFX (DFM for manufacturing, DFA for assembly, DFT for test, etc.). Some documents generated by the CAD system can be directly used in the manufacture of electronic products. It is the core of the CAD to CAM automation in the electronics industry. It plays a key role as a bridge. The electronics manufacturing industry masters and applies such data files. One of the keys to manufacturing automation.

1 Introduction

The electronic manufacturing data format is mainly used in PCB fabrication, PCB assembly, PCB testing (Test, including light panel and assembly board), etc. Modern electronic industry CAD has become quite popular and increasingly perfect, from less functional PCs. Levels such as Protel, PADS, and P-CAD, to workstations with various simulation toolsets, such as Synopsys, Cadence, and Mentor software, almost all have the ability to generate layout and layout PCB production files. The most typical is the Gerber file. Its main purpose is PCB layout (light drawing), and finally PCB manufacturers complete the PCB production.

The Gerber format is also improving in the direction of adaptive electronics manufacturing, but for increasingly complex designs, some information related to PCB fabrication and assembly cannot be expressed or included in the Gerber format, such as PCB sheet type, dielectric thickness, and process parameters. Etc. Especially after the Gerber file is handed over to the PCB maker, after checking the illuminating effect and conflicting design rules, if there is a problem, you must return to the design department to regenerate the Gerber file, and then make the PCB. This kind of work will cost 30%~ 50% production time and effort. The so-called one-way data transfer (Transfer), can not carry out two-way data conversion (Exchange), and the two-way, simple, comprehensive data conversion format between the PCB production unit and the CAD department will be very meaningful.

2 Electronic CAD/CAM Data Exchange (ECCE)

Manufacturing automation in the electronics industry is a trend in the world. The design of electronic products is complicated and the life cycle of products is becoming shorter and shorter. The application of computers, networks, and advanced management software to electronic manufacturing has been increasingly valued by advanced countries and manufacturers. The improvement of CAM file format has made corresponding progress and has been applied, and domestic research has not been conducted.

The CAD-CAM data conversion project recognized by the world's electronics industry is ECCE. The specific content can be divided into two categories: CAD and CAM, namely: EDIF-The Electronic Design Interchange Format. Interactive format) reference and IPC-2510 (IPC-The Institute for Packaging and Interconnect) series of standards.

The ECCE project development team is jointly organized by two standardization organizations: EIA and IPC. IPC is responsible for formulating format and parameter standards. EIA is responsible for establishing information models, mainly for CAD-CAM interconnection (EDIF 4.0.0 extension application) and CAM format standards. Establish work (IPC-2510 series). The following is a general introduction for the peers to explore.
