China Superhard Materials Association Standing Council held a grand meeting

**Abstract** [China Superhard Materials News] On April 16, 2013, the 5th Executive Director (Extended) Meeting of the 4th China Superhard Materials Association was held in Huangshan City, Anhui Province. Over 100 representatives from across the country gathered to discuss key industry development strategies and outline a vision for the future of superhard materials. The meeting was chaired by Li Zhihong, the Secretary-General of the Superhard Materials Association. The event featured several important speeches and presentations. Chen Huairong, Vice Chairman of the China Superhard Materials Association, welcomed attendees on behalf of the China Machine Tool Industry Association’s Superhard Materials Branch. He highlighted the significance of this year as the 50th anniversary of China's diamond industry and expressed hope that participants would contribute valuable insights during the discussions. He also thanked all industry colleagues who had supported the 50th-anniversary celebrations and wished the conference a successful outcome. Li Zhihong, the Secretary-General, shared the key points from the first Secretary-General’s work conference of the China Machine Tool Industry Association in 2013. He emphasized the importance of international collaboration, vocational training, and supporting enterprises in their transformation and upgrading. The association planned to publish a book titled “China’s Superhard Materials Industry for 50 Years” and received recognition as an “Advanced Branch.” In terms of the evaluation process for the “Top Ten Enterprises,” the criteria were updated from six to four: product quality, CNC product sales revenue, comprehensive economic benefits, and independent innovation. This change aimed to make the assessment more objective and aligned with user feedback. The meeting also reviewed the 2012 Work Summary and the 2013 Work Plan, focusing on leveraging national policies, promoting industrial transformation, and enhancing enterprise competitiveness. Key upcoming events included the 6th Zhengzhou International Superhard Materials and Products Seminar, the 2nd China (Zhengzhou) International Abrasives Grinding Exhibition, and the publication of historical materials on China’s superhard materials industry over the past 50 years. In his speech on the 2012 economic operation data, Li Zhihong noted that while global economic growth remained weak and domestic demand was not strong, the superhard materials industry still achieved double-digit growth. He encouraged companies to focus on R&D, technological upgrades, and market differentiation rather than盲目 expansion or replication. He stressed the need for long-term planning and innovation to ensure sustainable development. Other speakers at the meeting included Liu Mingyao, Deputy Director of the Zhengzhou Sanmao Research Institute, who discussed standardization projects and major special project applications, and Li Xiangting, Deputy Director of the Zhengzhou New Materials Industrial Park Management Committee, who addressed ways to reduce operational costs and enhance technological competitiveness. Additionally, Yu Bin, Director of the Macroeconomic Research Department at the State Council Development Research Center, presented a report on China’s economic outlook for 2013. The meeting concluded successfully, achieving its set objectives. China Superhard Materials Network will continue to release detailed reports and summaries in the coming days. Stay tuned for more updates.
