Summer appliances, power saving tips

As the temperature climbs, we're heading into the sweltering summer season. Most household appliances are in full use, and your electricity meter is spinning faster than ever. With summer coming, it's more important than ever to find smart ways to save energy without sacrificing comfort. Here are some practical tips to help you reduce your electricity consumption. **Air Conditioner**: Set your AC to a reasonable temperature—around 26°C to 28°C. Raising the temperature by just 1°C can cut energy use by up to 8%. Also, make sure the air vents are facing upward to improve airflow efficiency. Clean the filter every two weeks to save up to 30% on energy. **TV**: The brighter and louder your TV, the more power it uses. Adjust the brightness and volume to a comfortable level, which can save up to 50% of energy and extend the lifespan of your TV. Always cover the TV when not in use and unplug it when you're done watching to save power and prevent electrical hazards. **Refrigerator**: Don’t overfill your fridge—keep it around 80% full for better air circulation. Setting the freezer to -18°C instead of -22°C can save 30% on energy. Also, keep the temperature at 5°C instead of 8°C to reduce monthly electricity usage by over 10 degrees. **Electric Fan**: Fans with larger blades tend to use more power. Start on a high speed and then switch to low once the room cools down. When using a rice cooker, cover it with a towel to retain heat and save energy. Soaking rice for 30 minutes before cooking can also help reduce electricity use. **Microwave**: Use the microwave efficiently by choosing the right power level and minimizing the number of times you open the door while cooking. This helps maintain heat and reduces energy waste. **Washing Machine**: In summer, people tend to do more laundry. Try to wait until you have a full load before running the machine. Soak clothes before washing to shorten the cycle time, and use the "strong wash" setting for better energy efficiency. Energy saving doesn't have to be complicated. Simply choose energy-efficient appliances and develop good habits, like unplugging devices when not in use or adjusting settings wisely. Small changes add up, and over time, they can significantly lower your electricity bill. By being mindful of how we use electricity, we can all contribute to a more sustainable future.
