Main type of wrench

There are two main types of wrenches: fixed wrenches and adjustable wrenches. Fixed wrenches have a specific size marked on them, while adjustable wrenches allow you to change the opening size to fit different nuts or bolts.

1. Standard Wrench: This type has fixed-size openings at one or both ends, designed for tightening or loosening nuts and bolts of a specific size.

2. Torx Wrench: Featuring a hexagonal or twelve-pointed socket at each end, it's ideal for tight spaces where regular wrenches can't reach.

3. Combination Wrench: One end is a standard open-end wrench, while the other is a box-end wrench, allowing you to work on the same bolt or nut from both sides with ease.

4. Adjustable Wrench: This tool has an adjustable jaw that can be widened or narrowed to fit various sizes of nuts and bolts, making it very versatile for different tasks.

5. Hook Wrench (Crescent Wrench): Designed for use in tight areas, this wrench is especially useful for turning thin flat nuts that might be hard to access with other tools.

6. Socket Wrench: Made up of multiple sockets with hexagonal or twelve-point holes, this system works with handles, extensions, and other accessories. It’s perfect for reaching bolts or nuts in deep or narrow spaces.

7. Allen Key: An L-shaped tool used to tighten or loosen hexagonal socket head cap screws. The size of the key corresponds to the distance between opposite sides of the hexagon, following national standards for bolt sizing.

8. Torque Wrench: This specialized tool measures the amount of torque applied when tightening a bolt or nut. Some models will emit a sound or light signal once the desired torque is reached, ensuring proper tightening for critical applications.

9. Adjustable Wrench: The design includes a flat, fine-toothed fixed jaw and a movable jaw that can be adjusted using a worm gear mechanism. This allows for quick changes in jaw position, making it adaptable for a wide range of fasteners.

These wrenches are commonly used in machinery, automotive, and industrial settings to fasten or remove nuts and bolts efficiently and safely. Choosing the right tool depends on the specific task, space constraints, and the type of fastener being used.
