Effect of Additives on Brass Structure of Scrap Copper Casting

Related studies have shown that when the waste copper is smelted, the addition of an appropriate amount of additives can effectively refine the brass grains, remove the internal slag inclusions, and optimize the properties of the brass. At present, the research on optimizing the properties of brass alloys by using additives is mainly focused on the treatment of primary ore copper, and there are few studies on the properties of additives to change the properties of scrap copper.

The source of waste copper is complicated, and a single additive (such as rare earth, boron alloy, impurity removal agent, etc.) has little effect on the improvement of brass properties. For example, the addition of a single rare earth element is prone to dendritic grains, and the use of too much rare earth increases the cost of the material; the boron alloy has the disadvantage of slow acting on the brass alloy, and the single grain refiner refining effect Poor; the addition of flux has degassing and slag removal, but the addition of a single flux has limited ability to remove impurities, and the impurity removal effect is not ideal. In order to overcome the shortcomings of various additives, our company proposed to mix the various types of additives in the waste copper casting brass alloy, and optimize the feeding process to optimize the performance of the brass.
