From August 26th to 27th, Gong Liqun, vice chairman of the Provincial Political Consultative Conference, led a research team to conduct an in-depth investigation into the progress and implementation of the "reform of the science and technology system and the acceleration of building an independent innovation framework." Accompanying the delegation were CPIU Chairman Li Xiuqi, Deputy Mayor Ma Jian, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC He Jiansheng, and CPPCC Secretary-General Wu Xiaojun.
During the two-day visit, the research group visited several key institutions and enterprises, including the Zhengzhou Abrasives Grinding Research Institute, Henan University of Technology, Zhengzhou IT Industrial Park, Henan E-commerce Industrial Park, China Power 27 Research Institute, Henan Jin Dr. Seed Co., Ltd., Yutong New Energy Project, and China Railway Tunnel Equipment Co., Ltd. Each stop provided valuable insights into the city’s efforts in technological development and industrial innovation.
At a subsequent symposium, Deputy Mayor Ma Jian and representatives from participating enterprises shared updates on the city’s science and technology system reforms. According to the reports, in 2012, the city's high-tech industry output reached 375.4 billion yuan, reflecting a 32.8% year-on-year increase. The added value of high-tech industries reached 111.93 billion yuan, up by 29%. These figures placed the city at the top among the six provincial capitals in terms of growth rate for both high-tech output and added value, ranking seventh nationally among 27 provincial capitals.
Gong Liqun commended the city’s achievements in science and technology reform, emphasizing the need to further strengthen the industrial independent innovation system. He called for expanding the high-tech service sector, leveraging the strengths of large and medium-sized enterprises, and exploring new market-driven strategies. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of utilizing human resources effectively in high-tech zones, promoting the integration of IT parks and e-logistics parks, and accelerating the development of industrial clusters to make greater contributions to the province's economic and social progress.
