Zhongwang 3D 3D CAD Tutorial: Heatsink for CPU Radiator Modeling

Zhongwang 3D is an affordable, integrated 3D CAD/CAM software developed by Guangzhou Zhongwang Longteng Software Co., Ltd. It comes with independent intellectual property rights and is known for its strong compatibility, user-friendly interface, and ease of learning. With unique hybrid modeling technology, full-process plastic mold solutions, and advanced intelligent 2-5-axis CAM processing, it empowers engineers to smoothly transition from concept to product. Compared to other CAD/CAM tools, Zhongwang 3D offers a more intuitive and efficient experience. We’ve shared several tutorials before, but this time we’re focusing on a practical example: modeling a CPU heat sink. Through the following step-by-step guide, you’ll gain hands-on experience and improve your skills in using Zhongwang 3D.

1. Start by sketching on the XY plane. Using constraints during drawing can significantly boost your efficiency. You can check the constraint status at any time, as shown in Figure 1.

2. Once the sketch is complete, perform a stretch operation. The detailed parameters are displayed in Figure 2.

3. If you're not satisfied with the size, modifying the sketch is straightforward. Since we used constraint-based drawing, you can directly change the label values to adjust dimensions. There are two ways to change the width to 55: 1. As shown in Figure 3, open the label display, double-click the width label, and update the value.

2. Alternatively, go to the history management, right-click the sketch entry, and modify the corresponding value. This method works not only for sketches but also for many other driver parameters.

4. Select the plane shown in Figure 5 for the next sketch. The parameters are illustrated in Figure 5.

5. Use the sketch to perform a stretch reduction, as seen in Figure 6.

6. Choose the plane in Figure 7 for the next sketch. The settings are shown in Figure 7.

7. Perform another stretch reduction based on the new sketch, as demonstrated in Figure 8.

8. Apply the image feature as shown in Figure 9.

9. Select the plane in Figure 10 for the next sketch. The parameters are listed in Figure 10.

10. Use the sketch to perform a stretch reduction, as shown in Figure 11.

11. Round the corners as demonstrated in Figure 12.

12. That’s it! The modeling tutorial is now complete.

Through this CPU heat sink modeling tutorial, you’ve learned how to efficiently use Zhongwang 3D for 3D design and manufacturing. Did you find it helpful?
